Director of Bloomfield Grey
How many years have you been an agent?
In one sentence why do you think independent agents are a better choice for the public?
When the owner of a company is consistently face-to-face with the clients who ultimately pay his wage, they will have a greater responsibility to provide value.
What do you hope CIELA will achieve?
To successfully educate the public about how to assess what separates agents who provide real value from those agents who are merely skilled at pretending to provide value.
To what do you attribute your success over your competitors?
I work hard to put my client’s interests before my own which means clients bring business back.
What is the hardest part of running an independent agency?
Overcoming the nonsense arguments put to homeowners by larger competitors about the benefits of their size and brand.
Most agents would admit to being busier than they like. What one thing would you advise them to stop doing?
Every firm is different, I’m not sure how to answer this. Personally I don’t think being less busy is an objective that a small agency can tolerate in what is currently a very turbulent industry.
Who is the most impressive agent you have ever met?
Richard Freeman who ran offices in South-West London in the 90’s and noughties – he changed careers early sadly.
How would you describe the overall quality of the founders group?
Superb and more importantly varied – there are many different types of independent.
Why do you think Charlie is the right person to get this organisation started?
He is passionate.
What aspect of your business are you most proud of?
We provide a consistent service and we understand how to get better prices than any other agent I know of.
If you could wave a magic wand and change one thing about your business, what would it be?
A year’s worth of growth would be good – we are a start up!
In one word how would you describe the responsibility of being an employer?
